Mr. Benasutti concentrates his practice in the trial of patent, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition cases in the State and Federal courts throughout the country, including both bench and jury trials, and before the International Trade Commission. He has argued appeals in the Federal Courts of Appeal, including the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has been lead trial counsel in the litigation of patents involving food processing, lead acid electric storage batteries, storage battery manufacturing equipment, television rental systems, waste water treatment systems, national consumer product trademark and radio service mark actions, and in cases involving computer programs, audio/visual works and copyrights. He has also served as an expert in federal and state court litigation involving patents, copyrights and legal malpractice.

In the United States Patent and Trademark Office, he has handled inter partes matters such as patent interference proceedings and trademark cancellation and opposition proceedings from their inception through disposition by the Patent Office Boards for over 35 years. He has prepared and filed more than 1,000 patent applications, including domestic, foreign and design cases. In order to distinguish close cases in important or significant invention developments, he has successfully used comparative testing of the prior art to distinguished the invention from the art and obtain the patent. He has been engaged in advising clients on, and in the drafting of, licenses and assignments, for over 30 years.

He is the author of the "The New Rules Of Professional Conduct", The PBA Quarterly, Oct., 1983 Vol. LIV, No. 4; "The Patentable Invention," ASME publication, No. 76-DE-18, 1973; "Weighing The Risk Of Patent Infringement", ASME, NO., 76-DE-1, 1976; as well as many articles for the Pennsylvania Bar and Philadelphia Bar Associations' publications.
